Post 110 annual recognizes two Law Enforcement Officers from Joint Base Little Creek/Ft. Story for their bravery and service to the community.

  • The SSgt Robert C. Melberg, USA, American Legion Post 110 of Virginia Beach, VA presented its Annual Law Enforcement of the Year Awards during its monthly meeting on March 26, 2025. Receiving the awards were Master at Arms First Class Petty Officer Grover Smith, III, and K-9 Police Officer Derek P. Holmes both from Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story Police Department. Smith and Holman were commended for their 'Outstanding Public Service Benefiting Our Community, State and Nation'. Presenting the awards were Post Adjutant Fred Kinkin and Post Commander Ron Basso. Each awardee also received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from Congresswoman Jen A. Kiggans, 2nd District of Virginia. These certificates were presented by Jonathan Gragnano, Special Projects Director in Kiggans' office. (Photography by Bert Wendell, Jr.)

Melberg, U.S. Army, American Legion Post 110, Virginia Beach, VA awarded the 'American Legion Law Enforcement Certificate of Commendation' to Police Officer Corey Boykin, Jr. and Master At Arms First Class April Ancell, USN, both from the Police Department of Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, on February 28, 2024. Presenting the certificates was Fred Kinkin, Post Adjutant and Law Enforcement Coordinator.
